Biography
| Feder studied at the Odessa drawing school. In 1906 he left from Russia to pursue his artistic studies in Berlin and subsequently in Geneva. From 1908 he lived in Paris where he visited the private academies of R. Zhjulien and A. Matiss. From 1910 he began participating in exhibitions in the Paris Autumn Salon and Salon Independent. He also worked for Russian and French magazines and illustrated books. In 1924 he travelled to Palestine. In 1931 he executed the decoration of pavilion of Madagascar for the Colonial exhibition in Paris. In 1920's-1930's the artist's personal exhibitions were held in private Parisian galleries. Feder also participated in Russian exhibitions in London and New York. His works from exhibitions have been purchased by the Luxembourg museum Paris, and museums of Bruxelles, Havre, etc. The artist was interested in art of Africa and had a great collection of the African sculpture. During the occupation of France during World War II, he was arrested and in 1943 he was lost in Osventzim. |
