Biography
| Jacquet was a French artist who was associated with the American Pop art movement. He was most well known for his renditions of famous paintings such as Manet's Luncheon on the Grass. His version uses a photograph of modern figures in the same positions printed onto a canvas in a way that, like half-tone printing, shows the images as dots. He produced a number of oil paintings that he called, 'Camouflages' which consist of waving lines and figures in bold colors. Jacquet lived in New York and Paris and taught at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs. He was married (1992) to Sophie Matisse, great-granddaughter of the French Fauvist artist Henri Matisse. He represented France at the Biennial of Venice in 1976, and again at the Biennial of Sao Paulo in 1989. |
