Varotari, also called Il Padovanino, was a Venetian painter whose works launched the voque in Rome for Venetian painting. He was heavily influenced by Titian and was commissioned to copy his 'Worship of Venus' as well as other famous artists' works. In his own work, he often depicted unusual subjects from mythology and ancient history.
