Biography
Alexander Alexandrovitch Osmerkin primarily lived and worked in Moscow. Taught at many institutions of arts in Moscow and Leningrad (1918 - 1948, with some breaks). He belonged to the "left wing" in the Russian arts of the beginning of the 20th century; he started under influence of "fauvism" and cubism. Later on, he followed traditional values of classical arts, developing Russian visual and painting culture after 1917. His characteristic feature was his sense of color. He painted genre subjects, created series of landscapes from Pushkin's memorable places and Zagorsk.
