Biography
| Alexander Nikolaevitch Volkov lived and worked generally in Tashkent. He studied at the St. Petersburg University as well as the Academy of Arts (1908-11), and at the Kiev Art School (1912-16). He was a member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (since 1927), the union "Masters of New East" (since 1928) etc. In 1919 Volkov became the first director of the State Museum of Arts of Middle Asia. From 1916 to 1946 taught in schools and art institutes of Uzbekistan. People artist of Uzbekskaya SSR. He was one of the leading artists of the east wing of Russian Avanguard. |
