Biography
Alexej Georgewitsch von Jawlensky was a painter, although Russian, he actively painted in Germany. He was a member of the New Munich Artist's Association (Neue Künstlervereinigung München), Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) group and later the Die Blaue Vier (The Blue Four).
Jawlensky was noted for his Expressionistic portraits and the mystical tone of his late paintings of abstract faces.
