Biography
| She was the daughter of Georg Pfrundt, wax-modelador, medal and recorder. In 1659, she married the award-winning Johann Bartholomaus Braun. Braun first worked in Nuremberg, and later in Frankfurt am Main, becoming especially recognized as a portraitist. In the style of Alessandro Abondio, she produced wax portrait reliefs of numerous members of the princely houses in the Netherlands, Germany and other countries. Braun also modeled free-standing wax figures. She did not, however, limited her work to portraits, but it also runs scenes mythological, such as the signed sculpture of the bath Venus. Brauns figure sculptures were based on their anatomical study in wax; the figures were well modeled on wax color, or painted, partially clothed in wool and silk and adorned with pearls and precious stones. |
