Biography
| Also called the Elder. He is an internationally celebrated Venetian draftsman as well as caricaturist, printmaker, collector, connoisseur, writer on art and art dealer, and even served as agent between his Venetian artist friends and important European collectors. Zanetti revived the technique of the chiaroscuro woodcut in his Diversarum Iconum, a collection of prints published in one volume in the late 1720s. Collaborating with his second cousin Anton Maria Zanetti the Younger, he published his Raccolta Delle Antiche Statue from 1740-3 and his collection of antique gems in his Dactyliotheca Zanettiana in 1750. |
