Biography
| Possibly born in Garofolo (hence the nickname), Italian painter Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo's main focus was religious paintings in a mannerist style. He did produce a number of works based on mythological subjects, such as P'agan Sacrifice' in London. His painting 'Allegory of Love' shows an influence from Michelangelo and Giorgione. In addition, Garofalo painted two illusionistic ceiling decorations in the Palazzo Ludovico il Moro at Ferrara. |
