Biography
Beryl's love for woodworking began in his teens as he learned "wood shop" techniques in junior high school. His first wood working endeavors included making custom furniture pieces.
He always finds a great respite working with wood. Once he retired from his career as an independent contractor, he was able to fulfill his real dream of working primarily on the wood lathe. The wood "speaks" to him as does the medium for any artist...the pieces he turns are already determined.
Working with wood is quite challenging because of its tremendous variations. Designing and turning pieces with segmented woods has allowed Beryl to create a unique work of art that captures the beauty of a variety of woods. These pieces truly represent the challenge of appreciating the beauty of nature in woods.
Beryl has work featured in "The Mountain Spirit Gallery" in Prescott, Arizona and also in Huey's Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has donated pieces to various organizations for fund-raising auctions including Habitat for Humanity, CACHE HEART ( Art & Cultural Center) and Hacienda De Las Milagros (an animal sanctuary). He also creates vessels under commission for private collections.
