Caleb John Garbrand was a portrait painter born in London 1748 from a family of Jamaican origin. The artist died in Chittagong in March 1794. He entered RA Schools 1771, exhibited SA 1776 and 1780 FS 1778-79; RA 1775-80. He was in India by 1783, where he soon gave up painting.
