Jim Ventura's Creative Spirituality
Jim Ventura is an author, radio show host, and navigational consultant who has knowledge and practical expertise in working with a number of different types of Oracles (Tarot, Runes, Angel cards, Astrology, Numerology, etc...). He helps his clients and readers to see how the use of oracles can assist us in tuning into the messages from the Universe/Higher Self. Oracles are not only an excellent way to gain insight, but their use may also sharpen our intuitive abilities. Oracles infuse artistry and universal archetypal patterns together to trigger an awakening of the beneficial directional forces that exist both inside and outside of ourselves. Jim is the author of a monthly column called Snake Oil and is available (by appointment) for personal navigational consultations. More information about Jim's services

Working with oracles can remind us of the amazing syncronicity that exists in this world. Whether you believe that a card or symbol chosen "randomly" is specifically meant for you or if its wisdom could apply to anyone at some level, we still can benefit by tuning into the wisdom of many different types of oracles. Each month I will discuss the message of a different oracle. Consider contemplating how this months symbol might apply to your life. See if tuning into this archetype through meditation can help you understand how both the positive and "negative" aspects of this month's oracle may apply to your past, present, or future.
For many people, the Tarot is seen as a tool that psychics and fortune tellers use to read peoples fortunes. Some people with more cynical and skeptical perspectives often see it as a "scam" device to take peoples money. Yet, any serious study of the Tarot will bring one to an increased awareness of how much insight this Oracle can truly give us. There are 22 major Arcana cards and 56 minor Arcana cards in a Tarot deck. The Major Arcana illustrate the universal archetypes we all experience at different points in our lives. The minor Arcana focus more on specific details of day to day life. The artwork of the Tarot can help us to see and understand the symbolism of what these archetypes tell us. Whether a card is upright or reversed also adds another aspect to consider.
The archetypal Lovers card taps us into the part of us that desires partnership and compatible relationships. It directs us to find relationships with other people who are in a similar "space." In Numerology, the number six relates to service, family, domestic harmony, and comfort. The image in the card of the two naked lovers shows us the vulnerability that intimate relationships require. The image of the Archangel Raphael conveys his blessing of the union. Archangel Raphael is associated with the process of healing. In some respects, all relationships are about healing parts of ourselves while offering healing consciously or unconsciously to those we connect with. The evocative Adam and Eve imagery is a reminder that the pull of relationship is an attribute that exists in all of us. The Lovers archetype connects us with the joy of being in harmonious relationships with others and an increased ability to make good choices.
The Lovers Upright.
The Lovers upright indicates positive, balanced decision making. The archetypal energy brings decisiveness around compatibility, harmony, attraction and the benefits we experience when we find something that "fits" us. The pull of finding connection and compatibility with another is indicated. When attraction combines with finding another individual who shares similar views and interests we feel a sense of completion. The ideal soulmate relationship may be part of our experience or we may simply find ourselves opening to allowing a connection like this to come into our life. The Lovers upright brings us to a positive place about making decisions about all aspects of relationships with others. When we are in a peaceful, harmonious place and have a good sense of self worth we are more likely to find similar aspects in a mate. The Lovers upright often signals either an opening up to finding balance in our current relationship or we may actually bring in something new. In ether case, we see decision making that is based on what works specifically for us and a harmonious balance of male and female energies. Desire and willingness combine to create opportunities for companionship.
The Lovers Reversed.
When the Lovers falls reversed we may be making poor choices. We see discord and lack of harmony in relationships. Fighting, resentment, and incompatibility are often signals that a relationship may need some work or that it may need to come to an end. We are often taught that we will meet a perfect mate and stay together for a lifetime. But in reality, this permanence is actually uncommon for most people. Sometimes relationships fail to grow, couples drift apart, or move in different directions. What was once harmonious may now have become toxic. A relationship may need to be worked on to maintain growth and forward movement. We may have to sacrifice or be more tolerant and understanding of a different point of view held by our mate. Sometimes we can adjust and heal the problems that block us. In other cases, we may need to accept that we are trying to make something fit that no longer works or never really did in the first place. In some cases this awakening is a painful one. It may involve conditions that may make us angry or sad, but triggers us to grow. Both parties must be interested in solving the current dilemmas or no progress can be made. We see bad choices and incompatible elements in relationships surfacing.
