Biography
Fraenkel trained at the Karlsruhe Academy and in Paris, and travelled through Italy, Spain, Portugal, Africa and India studying the cultures of these countries, before the political situation forced her into exile. In England she became an art teacher, in addition to working as a sculptor of portrait busts. Her sculpture was shown at the Anglo Jewish exhibition held at the Ben Uri Gallery, London, as part of the Festival of Britain in 1951. Jewish artists, many of whom had left their home countries as part of successive waves of refugees, were exhibited together, and Fraenkel's work was shown with that of David Bomberg, Mark Gertler, Jacob Kramer, Isaac Rosenberg, lily Delissa Joseph and Clara Klinghoffer.
