Folk Art
Art Fortune | Folk Art
The term Folk Art usually refers to the idea of art being produced from individuals who are most commonly ‘self taught’, and who does not conform to academic or fine art standards. This type of art expresses a specific cultural identity, and therefore can be different depending in what area it was created in. Objects that make up Folk Art pieces are utilitarian in nature, and include cloth, paper, wood clay and metals.
Instead of finding Folk Art objects in museums or galleries, one would most likely find artworks of this kind in antique shops and even in attics or garages. Folk Art is unique in the in turns ordinary, useful objects into artistic pieces in their own right, and for that it is an art style that is quite unlike any other.
