Do yall think that Flash websites are a good idea or bad? Some internet connections are too slow to see a flash website... do you think this is as detrimental as some people claim it to be?

Most people are switching over to "web standards" to make their site more lightweight and search friendly.

The thing with Flash is like you say, some connections don't have great loading times and there are different versions of Flash you have to consider. It also won't rank in search engines which is really important to some people.

I think it really depends on the purpose of the website. I think I would like to see flash websites when you want to kind of enjoy the experience of going through the site, instead of having to wait for a site to download and your in a hurry trying to buy something. I enjoy flash websites when they have good design and its entertaining of course.

ya, i agree with annette. flash is much more about the user experience than it is about the actual size. it's definitely much more entertaining than the regular ol' .html extension. you jus gotta know what you're doing. flash is friggin hard to make websites because you have to know a little bit of ActionScript (the code).

I think a site can be enhanced by have elements of Flash added to them (movies), but having an entire site built in Flash is a bad idea all around. Like previously stated, it takes a long time to load (unless it's built right, and most aren't) and some platforms (like mac) just don't get along with Flash. Pieces of Flash good. All Flash bad.
