There is a style of art I came across and the only thing I can describe it as is Book Art. I thought this was a really unique way of creating interesting art. Normally I was be very upset with people cutting up books but they turn it into something so amazing.

I like it! It's great pop-up art, does it fold down I wonder(?) I like the use of an ordinary object--objectifying it.

Agreed. I love it when artists take ordinary plain objects and turn them into something you wouldn't expect to see. I'm not sure if folds down. I would think they would attempt to make the figures stay up in one place.

Who made that art is a real artist.

This is the first time I saw an art that made from a Book.,,
And it's truly amazing.,

I recently came across this as I was doing research for my own version of book art. It's so amazing what people can do!

Alex Queral does some amazing sculptural relief portraits with phonebooks and coats them with clear acrylic paint. i found this quote from him too that i thought added a lot to the series.
“In carving and painting a head from a phone-book directory, I’m celebrating the individual lost in the anonymous list of thousands of names that describe the size of the community.” - Alex Queral

This book art is amazing....I also have never seen anything like it. Since it is a reuse of material, especially the phone books, I find it quite clever.

Thanks for the posting and keep them coming,

WOW! I must say that these are all wonderful pieces. They would be perfect to loosen the atmosphere of a private library! I just love them!

This might be a tiny bit off topic, but I wanted to share information about "The Sketchbook Project". Essentially, someone can purchase a Moleskin sketchbook ($25) and fill it with whatever they please (there are available themes to choose from). Once you're finished, you send it back to the project's headquarters and they organize a massive international sketchbook tour.

It's really neat and I'm hoping I'll be able to participate one day. Hopefully some of you will find it interesting as well!

This was my recent assignment for my 3D class! Im turning mine in today! Some of them are truly amazing. I cut into my pages and created 3D images within the pages to reveal a personal secret. So fun to experiment with but make sure you have a very sharp razor blade and mini cutting mates for in between layers of detail.

Anything can be turned into a work of art is you put the effort. The artist gave life to books in a way few can imagine.
