If you live in or are visiting London go to the Pioneers of Popular Culture Sale which is part of the Vintage at Goodwood Festival. It will be a fun event with viewings of items for sale such as Andy Warhol's "After Marylin Monroe" selling for $16,000 each, and the Challen upright piano from Abbey Road studios, played by The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Asking price...$150,000.
Other fantastic things to view (and are for sale) are a 1953 Electric Solidboy Fender Telecaster guitar, and a three-strand simulated pearl necklace formerly owned by Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Bring your checkbook or credit card, but looking should prove to be just as much fun.
The sale is the brainchild of fashion designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemmingway in conjunction with Lord March. Set over three days, it is a celebration of all that is best about British popular culture in music, fashion, art, design and film.
Goodwood: 13-15 August.
