Meticulous South African artist William Kentridge has an idiosyncratic method for producing hand-drawn "stop motion" animations.
He takes photos of his charcoal drawings, but only uses a single piece of paper. So he documents every line, every erasure.

The effect in the completed animation is terrific. Amazingly, he never works from a storyboard or script!
