Loukomskiy Gheorhiy Kreckentievitch was a graphic artist, water colorist, art critic, and historian of architecture. He travelled much in Europe in 1900's, made numerous architectural sketches. In 1909-14, with the same purpose, travelled to historic Russian towns. Exhibited since 1909 (at the Academy, the Union of Russian Artists, New Society of Artists, in Brussels and Paris). Wrote for magazines on architecture, painting, applied arts. In 1917, managed works on registering and restoration of artistic values in Tsarskoye Selo. In 1918, organized and headed the museum based on the private collection of B.Khanenko (now the Museum of Oriental and Western Arts) in Kiev. In 1920, immigrated to Constantinople. In 1921-24, lived in Berlin; since 1925 - in Paris. In 1940 he moved to England, where his last years passed. In 1920ies, wrote for emigree magazines ("Spolokhi", "Firebird"); was a foreign correspondent for soviet periodicals ("Among Collectors", "The Life of Arts"). In 1928, a large retrospective exhibition of his works was arranged in Kazan'. In 1935-36, his watercolors were exhibited in Paris and London galleries. He was renowned and popular abroad, active in painting, critical work, and writings.
