Documents state that Cagnacci went to Rome in 1620 and again in 1621 (with Guercino*), some scholars conclude that Guercino was actually Cagnacci's teacher. When Cagnacci left Rome is unclear. He remained active primarily in Rimini until about 1642.
In December he was asked to carve a marble epitaph honoring Cardinal Bernardo Spada, but it is unknown if he executed it.
