| Flemish topographical painter and draughtsman. Born Antwerp 1742; died London 28 June 1810. Pupil of Antonissen at Antwerp and a Master there 1770. He settled in England and exh. RA 1790-1803; BI 1806. He travelled the country extensively and worked much for the nobility, producing neat views of country houses and parks, much in the style of Paul Sandby. He also painted picturesque views of towns and castles, usually in a rather clear tonality. |
