Born Ignace Henri Jean Theodore Fantin-Latour, the French painter was trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He is best known today for his flower paintings and group portraits of his friends, who included various Parisian artists and writers. Fantin also worked in lithography and produced a series of prints of musical composers.
