Henry Benbridge was an American portraitist and miniature painter. He sent to study with Mengs and Batoni in 1769 from Italy. There he painted a portrait of 'General Paoli', which he had painted for Boswell (now San Francisco). He exhibited at the Royal Academy of 1770 two portraits from London (one of Benjamin Franklin) but returned to Philadelphia the same year.
