Chalon was a very prolific animal painter. Born in Amsterdam, May 1771.The artist died in London in 1849. He Entered the RA Schools 1788 and won a silver medal in 1790. He Exhibited very abundantly 1792-1849 1807-1849. In 1796 he was a Animal painter to the Duchess of York and later filled the same role for the Duke of York and the Prince of Wales. He began with cattle and wild animals but latter specialised in horses and dogs.
