My name is Iza Islas. I was born in Hermosillo Sonora, Mexico Where I lived until the age of 11. At the age of 11 I found out photography was what I wanted to do, but the fact of my family’s economic status was in poor conditions I had to put my dream aside for a while. I immigrated to the USA at the age of 12. I’m currently attending to North High School and part time at MetroTech for the CTE program of photography.
‘You might not have the most fancy camera, but with a little of passion and your whole heart is enough to take the most beautiful photographs, canting every single color, texture, shape and feeling of life’-Iza Islas-.
My work is based in a reflection from the heart to the lens. I try to capture feelings in up to the images. I photograph every single place that makes me think is interesting. I consider myself as a documentary photographer, because if I see something I'm not agree with, I try to move half of the world to make a change. I don’t photograph the casual ‘every day things’. I like to explore until find something that fills my interests. I don’t have a specific subject but nature teenagers and children are what I like the most.
