Innes was a Welsh landscape painter. He used oils and water-colours to create his signature mountain landscapes. He attended Christ College, Carmarthen School of Art and the Slade School of Art and later studied as an associate of Augustus John. He painted overseas in France lending his work qualities of modern French Impressionism. His artwork took on a more Post-Impressionist appeal later on following aspects of Matisse.
