Biography
| A British painter trained as a painter in Hull and Maidstone and as sculptor at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. He was known for realism; sculpting life-sized figures dressed in real clothes and engaged in dramatic actions, which were disconcertingly lifelike and strange. Davies's work was considered neither naturalistic nor abstract. He later went beyond verisimilitude and made more exaggerated, less lifelike figures in less dramatic situations. |
