Blacker transforms corrugated iron from scrapyards into figures and landscapes. During the 1980s Blacker made metal sets for the dancer Gaby Agis (she has also designed for opera). This led to a shift in her practice. Figures were no longer to be represented. Now the viewer's body was to interact with sheets of corrugated metal and plastic, which were polished, covered with gold leaf, or sprayed with car paint. Blacker used corrugated zinc to make the installation Silver Screens (1993). Sheets of metal divided the gallery up, one of which was painted with a silhouette of four men on horseback, a typical image from a Hollywood western.
