Kato was born in 1926 in Kyoto a city in the central part of the island of Honshu, Japan. Beginning his work in silkscreen printmaking in 1972 he has also worked as a professional photographer. Kato has given lectures at the K.C.A. and at Aichi Educational University. He is the father of Kato a Japanese musician and composer. born in 1926.
