| Born in Vishera in Novgorod district. Studied in Petersburg at the school-workshop av M.K. Tenesheva (1904-09) and under J.F. Tsionglinsky (1911), in the Academy of Arts under N.S. Samokish and F.A. Rubo (1910-11), in Paris in the Academy of R. Goulienne (1912). Member of the union "Word Of Arts", "Makovets", "4 arts". In 1920-30-s taught in Moscow art instituts and the Academy of Arts of USSR (1935-48), a professor since 1924. Died in Moscow. Graphic artist, painter, monumetal artist. Illustrated the oriental poetry. The main subjects of his creation were the oriental and children. |
