Biography
| Louisa (of Marchioness)Waterford grew up in Paris, France due to her fathers job with the British Ambassador. She recived early training in the arts, carrying on her great-grandmothers (writer Lady Mary Wortley Montagu)legacy. Though she showed an early talent for painting, her work was not exhibited till the 1870s. Also known to be a philanthropist, she took her Northumberland property and built a school. Over the next 22 year, Waterford would adorn the walls of the school with watercolors of biblical scenes. Though it was used as a school till 1957, it has now become the Waterford Gallery. |
