Nagase was born in 1891 and died in 1978 in the Prefecture of Ibaraki. Ibaeaki is located in the Kanto region on Honshu island, one of the four islands of Japan. His work was in woodblocks and stencils. He also studied in France after his studies at Tokyo School of Fine Arts and at Kyoto city Specialist School of Painting. After changing his name to Kamen he was admitted to Salon d'Automne.
