Biography
| Seen as one of the most influential and distinguished artists of his time, Olafur Eliasson has created a body of epic artwork over the past two decades. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later with the architect and geometrist Einar Thorsteinn. Together with Thornsteinn, Olafur drew upon nature's elements of light and heat energy as well as fundamentals of organic structure to create his masterworks. Heavily influenced by Buckminster Fuller's work, he developed installations such as the "One Way Colour Tunnel." He is also well known for his piece in the Tate Modern Museum entitled, "The Weather Project." The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art commemorated his lifework in September of 2007 with his first full-scale survey. It is currently on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. |
