Biography
| Painter of stage scenes and light historical subjects. Pupil or assistant to Hogarth in earlier 1750s; there may have been a post-mortem sale in 1780. Exh. SA 1760-62; FS 1764-74 a series of subjects from Shakespeare in a manner deriving from Hogarth. He has been confused with a mezzotint engraver, P. Dawe, who seems to have been connected with Henry Morland. |
