| French painter from Laon known to live in Aix, Arles and Avignon in the South of France. Known as Charonton in Provence. He has been attributed with the famous "Avignon" Pieta, but his only documented surviving works are the Virgin of Mercy, 1452, painted with Pierre Villate and the even more impressive Coronation of the Virgin, 1954, with iconography based on St Augustine's City of God. |
