The Rococo period was an art style during the eighteenth century, which predominately took place in France. The subject of Rococo art put emphasis on the carefree lives of the aristocracy and love, romance and leisure were all frequently portrayed. This style is exemplified by graceful movements, petite figures and delicate colors.
Jean-Antoine Watteau is said to be the master of Rococo painting and is best known for his work, Embarkation for Cythera.
