Member of the Fellowship of Artists (1926 - 1928). Exhibited his works since 1926. His works were exhibited abroad (Vienna - 1932) and in Russia (Moscow - 1933, 1956). Member of the Moscow brunch of Union of Artists since 1933. At early 1930s he made an official tour to industrial and agriculture regions in Caucasus, the Middle Asia, around the Caspian Sea. As painter and drawer, he followed the canons of social realism; in the early period he tried to find new painting technique. He aspired to use painting methods of different schools for the embodiment of contemporary socialist theme. He painted by oil, tempera (modern urban views and scenes, important people's [in industry and agricultural] portraits, subject painting, very seldom - marine painting, animalistic painting). He was a fine easel graphic artist, gracefully working with variety of techniques: watercolour, colour engraving on metal, autolithography, charcoal, others.
