Ruth studied painting and Art History at the New School for Social Research, New York University and Yale. She studied under Larry Rivers, Gregorio Prestopino, Abraham Rattner, Reginald Marsh and Willem De Kooning. She's well known for eventually dating De Kooning as well as another famous artist of the time, Jackson Pollock. Her work takes on a spiritual abstraction.
