Biography
| As a young man, Samuel Buck was commissioned to draw views of towns and country houses in Yorkshire for an uncompleted project of the mapmaker John Warburton. His sketchbook of 1719 - 23 has been published as Samuel Buck's Yorkshire Sketchbook (1979). He and his brother Nathaniel later achieved fame through their prints, made over a period of 30 years, which they assembled in their Antiquities. These careful engravings are now a major source for the study of urban topography and of buildings. |
