Biography
| Samuil Yakovlevitch represented "the left wing" of the Russian Soviet art movement in the twenties and thirties. He was the founder of New Painters' Community (1921-22), worked for the Left Front (LEF) and Izobrigade (1932). He was a painter and graphic artist. He decorated books and films, wrote banners, painted portraits, genre scenes, and landscapes. Stylistically, he was close to primitive and folk art. |
