An important Roman painter born near Urbino, who, with his brother Federico, worked in a Mannerist idiom. He first made his reputation as a painter of facades, none of which survive. Most of his major commissions were finished after his death by Federico. Taddeo's style was influenced by classicism and realism, and remains one of the most formally inventive decorative artists of his time.
