Tim Burton on Display at the MOMA
by: JoEllen Coen
New York, NY. London based film maker Tim Burton recently debuted a litany of strange and intriguing work at New York's Museum of Modern Art. Johnny Depp was present to pay homage to long time friend and frequent director at the November 19, 2009 private opening. Showcasing more than three decades of paintings, sketches, scribbles and sculpture the show lends an unusual insight into the artists' twisted and fascinating imagination and also reveals the birth of some of his favorite characters including Edward Scissorhands and aliens from "Mars Attacks".
The exhibit spans four floors at the MOMA and reveals sketches from his teenage years through the present. Burton's show opened to the public on Sunday, November 29 and saw 10,000 visitors on it's first day.
The Tim Burton exhibit runs at the Museum of Modern Art with the help of SyFy through April 26th 2010 and is located at 11 West 53 Street New York, NY. For more information please visit their website: http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/313
