Biography
| Falileev Vadim Dmitrievitch was born in 1879, the son of a merchant. He grew up in Maysa village near Penza, and studied at the Academy of Arts (1903-10) under J.Ciaglinski and Myassoedov. From 1905, he worked primarily with aquaforte and etching. The artist graduated from Mathe etching workshop, where he was enraptured by colour etching techniques, which were then almost unknown in Russia. Pension from the Academy of Arts since 1911. The artist exhibited with the World of Arts 1906, 1916-17, 1921, the Union of Russian Artists Moscow, 1906, Petersburg and Kiev, 1909-10 and Zhar Zvet society 1923. In late 1910's and early 1920's, he produced series of lithographed and aquaforte portraits, and illustrated books. During his mature years, Falileev engaged in intensive teaching and theoretical studies. The artist taught at the graphic workshop of the Moscow Proletkult in the early 1920's, the Moscow School for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Stroganov's High School of Applied Arts, Vkhoutemas later. He lived and worked in Moscow until 1924, when he moved to Stockholm. From 1926, Falileev was active in Berlin, but finally resided in Rome in 1938. |
