Biography
| Victor Markovitch Midler was a Member of the Four Arts Group, one of founders of the Moscow brunch of the Union of Painters. Beginning in 1923, he worked in the State Tretiakov Gallery and collected works of the Soviet Russian period. He was the curator of exhibitions of P.V. Kouznetsov, R.R. Falk, A.V. Shevtchenko and retrospective exhibitions of the "Blue Rose" and "Knave of Diamonds" groups. In 1927 he went to France and Germany to study creative work of Russian painters as well as musicology. During that trip he met A.N. Benois, K.A. Korovin, M.F. Larionov, N.S. Gontcharova, V.I. Shouhaev, A.E. Iakovlev, M.Z. Shagal, P. Picasso, J. Rouot, K. Soukhitin, O. Tsadkin, S. Le Corbusier, A. Denouaye de Segonzak. Successfully balancing his time as an exhibit curator he worked as a painter; he created a decorations for revolutionary holidays in Odessa, graphic series, painted landscapes, still lives, portraits, subject paintings. |
