Biography
| Painter, graphic artist, scene decorator. Studied at the Stieglitz School at Vkoutemas. Member of "Union of New Trends" was a founder and chairman of the "Circle of Artists". Since 1922, with Decorative Institute in Petrograd. In the 20ies he started to search for new styles in easel paintings, characteristics with momumentality of forms and images, and to sharpen his artistic methods. His teacher A. Karev significantly influenced him greatly. since the 30ies, developed the industrial theme (views and interiors), wrote landscapes. Significant pieces are his Leningrad landscapes painted during the war, which are similar stilistically to works of A.Karev, N.Lapsin, A. Russakov, A. Vedernikov, and V. Grinberg. His work is exhibited in the State Russian Museum, Museum of Leningrad History, and Rybinsk Gallery of Arts. |
