Biography
| Bigg specialized in pictures of cottage sentiment, in which the obviously virtuous poor are very prominent. Many of these were engraved. His small-scale, full-length portraits and conversations are usually charming and more obviously 'sincere' than those of Wheatley. His 'ethos' is very much that of his first master, Edward Penny. |
