Biography
| Paalen studied in Paris until moving to Mexico at the invitation of Frida Kahlo in 1939. He worked in abstraction and surrealism often representing semi-human, semi-animal 'Saturine Princes' in a jungle setting. He helped organize the Surrealist Exhibition in Mexico City. In 1941, he turned to a style he called Dynaton and published articals in the journal Dyn. His ideas and writings were founded upon quantum theory, gestalt theory and writings by Nietzsche. |
