| As the daughter of Frantisek Augustin Braun, a prominent Bohemian politician, Braunerovaable was able to play an important role in Bohemian cultural life at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the 20th, especially in the area of Czech-french cultural relations. She was a frequent visitor to Paris, where her elder sister, who was married to the writer Elemir Bourges, lived. It was essential to familiarize Bohemian artists with French culture and introduced to such prominent artists such as Rodin, Redon and others. In Bohemia there was much to achieve for writers and artists together and she discovered artists such as Frantisek Bilek. She painted landscapes and, together with her teacher Antonin Chittussi, established contacts in France with members of the school Barbizon. She was, however, mainly a writer and illustrator and specialized in engravings of the Old Prague. She made an important contribution to the development of Bohemia book illustration with its design for Vilem Mrstiks Symphonic maje and officer illustration in association with the Revue moderne and its publications. She was interested in japanese prints, symbolism and the decoration reform movement, and he produced a set of hand painted glass. |
